Rhodiola rosea is a plant native to the mountainous regions of Asia,
Europe, the Arctic, and especially Siberia. Also known as “Golden Root”
it has been used in traditional European medical circles for centuries.
Russians have long used it in a tea to boost energy. Other affects
attributed to Rhodiola through the centuries include its ability to
combat fatigue, depression, anemia, infections and many other ailments.
Research
has identified Rhodiola as an adaptogen like Siberian Ginseng or Korean
Ginseng. An adaptogen is basically an agent that helps the body prepare
for and deal with stress, whether the source is physical, biological,
or chemical. An adaptogen works somewhat like an athlete who trains for
competition. The athlete’s body can handle the stress of competition
because of the preparation. The body also returns to a normal state
more quickly after the competition. Adaptogens provide similar effects.
In studies, Rhodiola was shown to help improve declining work
performance, sleep problems, lack of appetite, irritability, headaches,
and fatigue which were the result of intense physical or intellectual
stress. Other research confirmed improved cognitive function, a
stronger immune system, enhanced athletic performance, and reduced
stress.
Scientists have identified the active compounds in Rhodiola to
be Rosavins. These phytochemicals are responsible for Rhodiola’s unique
characteristics. Vitabase Rhodiola is standardized to a minimum of 3%
rosavins. Suggested Use: As a herbal dietary supplement, take 1 Vcaps 1 to 2 times daily, preferably with meals.
